84 Jacques Cartier Error Dollar - Coin Community Forum

aardspeed Pillar of the Community 921 Posts	Posted 03/22/2015 02:13 am I noticed that this coin had a scratch on it, but after looking closer, I noticed the scratch is under the lettering in Jacques, so it must have been there before stamping... Hope the pics show it, if not, I'll try to get better, closer pics. Report this Post to the Staff

Altaira Pillar of the Community Canada 2519 Posts	Posted 03/22/2015 02:21 am Not an error, just damage from a coin rolling machine. The lettering on the scroll is incuse, so scratches will look like it goes "through" it. It's just a trick of the lighting in your photo. Report this Post to the Staff

Nope... remember, the lower legend in that coin is incuse, not raised, it would take a pretty deep scratch to bottom out in those letters; SlurExe97 is right in this case.
