I pulled a quarter out of a plastic roll a while back thing it was a silver quarter. It turned out to be a 2004 P Tx State Quarter. If you flip the coin it sounds different than a regular quarter. The edge is completely void of any copper coloring and appears white when compared to the quarters around it. Also in a dim light ( no direct light shining on the coin) it appears white to any regular quarters around it. It is definitely not silver. Any help would be great.

thanks
elwood

They sold a lot of platinum and gold plated quarters on the HSN and other sources for the States series. They pretty numch ruined the market for these as the plating removes all collect ability for these. I usually take a razor blade and make a scratch vertically in the reeding to assure they are the plated ones. It shows the copper layer when you do that and doesn't ruin the face of the coin. If you could get an image of that, I don't have one yet. It would be a nice addition to my educational files. (I didn't realize I needed an image till now.)
