I was going though a couple of rolls of Kennedy half dollars and I came across this weird one. It looks like a proof, the edge is solid silver across, Its a P mint 1983 which says its NOT a proof and also its stamped. Has anybody come across something like this?.

Very interesting. I haven't seen that before. It's not a proof. Just been very heavily polished. The counter stamp is quite interesting. I'd love to know what the 20 years commemorated for someone.

Never seen anything like that. I too would wonder what the 20 year meant for someone. Where did you get the rolls? I am curious because maybe a dealer thought it was junk and just threw it in one.

I have a similar coin in my collection, mine is gold plated and countered stamped 1963-1983. This would have been the 20th anniversary of his assassination. Yours dated 1960-1980 is the 20th anniversary of his election.

Wow, Thanks echizento. I would have NEVER put that together. Mine must be chromed or silver plated or something. Worth puting into the collection anyway. Thanks.

I have about a half roll now of these found from searching rolls (these aren't what I'm searching for, but I keep them as I find them).

They commemorate some aspect of Kennedy, be it his election, assasination, or whatever. I figure when I get a full roll, maybe I'll list them on ebay for $10 plus shipping.
