Judging from the pics the spots that you pointed out seem to be raised. Next to the "F" looks like a die crack. As for the "A", the pics are not clear enough to tell what it is.

You may need to ask those VAM collectors in this forums. They should have lots of detail and better answer. Try to put something like "Questions about VAM in Morgan" or something similar to get their attentions.

Those are die cracks. Nothing more than that, but there are a number of people who collect Morgans by specific die and have listing numbers where they attempt to keep track of every stage of cracking in a die. I dunno how they do it, if I tried to do that with Lincoln cents I'd be in the funny farm...but then again, they used more than 100 times the dies minting Lincoln cents.
