I get it, probably only a few dozen certified finer, some toning, but will the market really bear a valuation like this, or even half the asking price?

Just for camparison's sake, there's another of these PCGS graded as 65 also listed (by a different seller) right now at a bit over $26K (the "book" jump in worth from 64 to 65 for this issue is on the order of 15X).

His coins are all priced extremely high. I believe he is targeting the inexperienced coin collector or investor who thinks that more expensive is better quality.

He has brand new in the box Capital Plastics Carson City Mint Morgan dollar holders, black and white, on ebay for $199.99 each. You can get the same holder from a discount coin supplier for as little as $78.56 plus shipping if you shop around. If you buy it directly from Capital Plastics their retail price is $104.75 plus shipping.

That coin is an extra zero plus a decent Gold Eagle from its' true retail value.

I'm about 100% sure I know who the seller is.
And he is noted for his high prices.
Worse yet, he is noted for very low offers when buying.
I found that out once when I asked; I didn't sell to him.

Google juliancoin and you will find exactly who he is. He has had a coin shop in the Maryland/Washington D. C. area since 1961.

It's VAM-39, which isn't a biggie. No idea why Julian chose to price this one so high. He has a better handle on things than that.
