I am asking to see if it is worth all the fees of submitting my recently acquired carson city morgans. I got 7 of them this past week. 3 are in GSA Uncirculated holders the dates are 1883-CC, 1884-CC, and the best for last a 1885-CC. The raw CC's are 1890 (Guesstimated grade EF-40), 1891 VF20 (Definitely cleaned), 1892 (F12 probably), and 1893 close to F12 as well.

Is it worth the investment to pay 30 bucks per coin to NGC, or am I better of keeping them as is? Is submitting coins to NGC difficult or relatively easy?

All advice is welcome thank you.

Have a look at the GSA's, if they seem to be be MS-63 or better then they are worth submitting. The 1885 is definitely worth it. The 92-CC is the borderline in F-12 and the 93-CC is worthwhile if it grades F-12.

That is part of my issue I have no problems distinguishing AU, and below. MS coins and up is my difficulty deciphering....I may post pictures when I get better light. I traded in some coins to a local dealer for all of them....Paid 700 in trade for 85CC, I haggled and got him down from asking 850. Good buy? The rest ranged from 100.00 dollars to 225 for the 93CC. I may ask a dealer who has much more knowledge than my local guy on his guesstimates and grades before I spend 200 dollars plus sending them out to be graded.

For $700 I want an unqualified MS64 in 1885-CC. I'm guessing you mean you gave $700 in retail; if you had any margin on those coins and you got a 64 you're in good shape. For ease of resale I'd want them all in slabs for authentication purposes, but your math may be close on some.

If you're skeptical about they're individual grades, I'd urge you to post them here on CCF, our collective grading opinions are as good as any dealer, this should get you a ballpark value.

I will post some photos of the coins when I get home later with good lighting and good magnification....I will probably create a new forum section for this. Be on the lookout. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

If you are a member of the ANA you won't have to join their collectors society, otherwise you will need to join their club just like PCGS. ANACS< ICG and SEGS are the only TPG's that do not require you to join any club to submit coins.

I always use Crown sized soft flips (PVC) not for long term storage, but safe enough for submissions. I write each line number from the form onto each flip with a sharpie pen. I only ship when I can't submit directly at a coin show, and if I do I use USPS registered and insured mail, I ship in a box wrapped with brown paper and sealed with brown kraft tape as required by USPS. The absolute safest way to send valuables in the mail.
