I'm going to assume that when you say "English", you are referring to the United States. If not, please let me know.

1958=Republic Decimal Coinage. KM#190- mintage= 5,000,000 - BU=$1.50 American.
1964=Republic Decimal Coinage, KM#190- mintage= 25,000,000 - BU= $1.25

howdy sir.. I don't know how the term applies but they call these coins English series.I think yes it refers to United States because the obverse of the coins depicts which was in the obverse of the "former" Philippines/U.S coins dated 1903-1940's which maybe it "says"
still in the Era of English (Americans) because after that the coins/notes were called Pilipino series, then ABL series, then new design series...

to answer it somewhat not coin related. yes the word "English" most in our town are being always reffered to as Americans.. some while ago in most provinces here in the cordilleras any "white" person is also always referred to as "Americano", we don't know many whites by then except maybe the well traveled..

thanks for enlightening me for the mintage and prices.. I thought 1958 50 cents has only mintage of 1,000 pieces. wew!

Maybe you are missing three zeros at the back. If you are checking Krause mintage, they remove three zeros at the back to save space as well as money.

Mabuhay baguiobookstore,

I'm not sure why you would call these english series. Up until 1945 all coins from the Philippines were minted in the United States. In 1946 when the Philippines was granted independence the US stopped minting coins with the inscription United States of America, actually I believe no new coins were issued until 1958 when the Republic decimal coinage was issued by the Philippine government.

From 1903-1937 it was the United States Administration Decimal Coinage.
From 1937-1945 it was the United States Administration Commonwealth Decimal Coinage.
From 1958-1967 it was Republic Decimal Coinage.
In 1967 Reform Coinage was issued.
The Culion Leper Colony had the Philippine Commission of Public Health Leprosarium Coinage (1913-1930) that was minted privately by Frank & Company which was valid only in the colony. Later issues were struck at the Manila mint.
