Just a normal dime. Look at other dimes or look up images of 1968 dimes.

Some bars and stuff used to paint quarters to see how much change was going through or something. I forgot but I have found a few. I would keep it.

Perhaps painted years ago and the high spots have worn off through circulation.

They used to paint them a color so when the guy came in to collect the money from a vending machine/juke box, they would return them back to the bar. That is the way they kept track of the refunds for the business.

On your coin it is corrosion from being homeless for a time. I would carry it a while in your pocket and you can see it look antiqued in the lower field areas.

The date on the 68, the 8 was partly filled with grease blocking the full device strike up on that digit.

Ok,yes it is a Greaser as far as the 8. Along with the I-IN and W-WE. Looks like the outer areas of the die was getting messy with Grease.
