Looks to MS but I'm on my phone so it's hard to tell. Gorgeous coin.

I agree with MS. That nick on the cheek might keep it to -64 but a -65 is not out of the realm of possibility.

Well-struck copper is so_much_fun to photograph and look at. Just beautiful. I'm calling it 63 but 64 wouldn't be a surprise.

Now that I'm on my laptop I'll give an EAC grade of MS-60 without any reason to net grade it at all. Beautiful coin.

NGC MS62 CAC - EAC 55 net 50 pin scratch above hair bun. CC#7 (tied) for variety. I think it's a 62 because of dull luster and a couple contact marks.

I saw the light marks on the face but don't see the pin scratch. My question is who attributed the coin, Grellman?

Well, EAC can stuff it with this one, and in general for that matter. This coin has not circulated. You cannot offer it a grade only available to circulated coinage. Call it whatever you wish, but don't pervert the Sheldon Scale to do so. I get tired of explaining to new collectors why EAC types use different definitions for terms the rest of us use to describe something entirely different. That's simple arrogance.

The pin scratch shows up in the right light. Heritage gave the EAC grade but don't believe that to be Grellman.

Grellman is the one who attributes for Heritage so I will of course defer to his judgement. I still believe it's MS despite the marks.

If I had sent this to NGC rather than Heritage for the EPN collection it would have come back Unc Details scratched. EAC doesn't have details grades which are pretty meaningless when it comes to valuation and appeal since different detail issues are not all weighted the same.. The EAC scale eliminates details grading and Red and Red brown designations.. The Sheldon system would be fine if NGC and PCGS had any consistency. The British grading system is strict so when UK coins are in NGC or PCGS holders I laugh at the grades as ridiculously over graded. But none of this bothers me, except when I see coins in slabs with obvious problems that should give it a details grade but wasn't given one because of who sent it in or what pedigree it has listed. I try to buy the coin not the holder. Eye appeal trumps grade number.
