I suggest looking into purchasing a copy of the Red Book by Whitman Publishing. Then it is easy to look up coins like that. Of course one thing to know about that book is the prices are inflated massively. Nice way to start though.

No, it is a War Nickel made from silver, to conserve nickel for armor during the war, but not worth that. Especially in only good condition. Littleton coins is famous for grossly overpricing their coin, but not even they do it that much. Must be something else up with that number

Your picture isn't good enough to give it a grade. However, it looks like normal circulation.

The number is probably a stock # and not a price.

Check to see if it is a doubled die reverse.

Worth about a buck in "good" condition. Check out numismedia.com. They have a price guide with pretty accurate current values.

with edweather. Four hundred fifty dollar AND FIVE CENTS? It seems pretty unlikely that was ever a price. I think it's great that you're keeping your uncle's collection.

with the above. Littleton overprices coins, but that number is way too high even for them. Probably worth about $1.00. Do check for the doubled die reverse though.

450.05 is Littleton's stock number for a 1945 Jefferson, not the price. The DDR for this one shows best on CELLO and CENTS. Doubling is to south and southeast, and should be visible on alll but very worn examples.
