Thanks! Need a few more opinions on this. If you see scratches it's just the picture. Edited by Ploopy 03/03/2015 7:52 pm

Me too. But you really shouldn't hold it in your bare hand, coins over time get worn by passing through peoples hands and if you held it like that for another 50 years it would end up as a AG-3. What I'msaying is that when you hold it in your bare hand your decreasing its grade by a little teeny tiny bit... please hold it like in the second pic, always!

Welcome to the CCF Ploopy!
Yeah, I must agree on VG10. Too much overall wear to pull a F12.

Yeah understandable.
Top Pic was taken 2 months ago, and I forgot the gloves! But this piece is in a type set, so it should be good in the album.

Some detail in the hair, nice drapery line at the neck, nice leaf separation on the reverse--I'd give it a F12. Coin also has nice color and surfaces.

Coin actually looks better in person!
Earlier, I was using PCGS Photograde, and it looked more like a VF20 obverse, honestly. This picture doesn't show the complete hair and bust detail. In sunlight, its a beautiful coin!

Ploopy. First of all I have to warn you that I am a member of Early American Copper (EAC) and we grade copper coins very strictly. I will agree with the others who grade this as VG-10. The reverse concerns me though. From the photos it appears to have some slight corrosion. If this is the case I'll have to net grade it down to VG-8. This is die variety C-13 meaning it is the plain 4 stemless reverse. This die variety is fairly common for the date so it has a rarity designation of R.1. Therefore my grade and attribution for this coin is 1804 C-13 R.1 10/8.

CelticSoul, just the picture :) Thanks for the help everyone!
Forgot to say, I was examining it earlier, and I noticed just a small trace of luster on the reverse, near the "CENT." No clue if you will believe it, and its not seen in the reverse pic, but it's there. Thanks for clearing it up!

If this is a dug coin, that is next to impossible.
If not, I've seen Fine level coins with traces of remnant luster amongst the protected devices.
