Hi I am new to this Forum but not new to collecting. I am trying to write this on my new pad {ASUS Pad} and just getting used to it. Anyway, I belong to the Ft Lauderdale Coin Club and attend Shows locally to sell & buy coins. I deal with modern coins and have an extensive collection of Graded Franklins. I love that they are still reasonibly priced for high grades. just picked up a 1956 Type 2 Proof NGC PR69 Cameo Franlin Half. The next highest coin is Ultra Cameo which goes for $2,500.00. I've got a feeling in 10 years thes will be like the walking Liberty Halfs priced agressive. The Franklin half was only minted from 1948 through 1963 and was discontinued by the untimely death of President Kennedy. The rarety of this coin is even more due to the worthless standing back in the 1970's when silver went to $50.00 an ounce. There were dealers that were opening up Proof and Mint sets to throw the Franklins in a bucket to get the melt price as the melt was worth more than the coin itself. Now the actual amounts of the Franklin half have diminished, however, you can still find them very reasonibly priced, even though there are more Walking Liberty Halfs out there that have lower grades for a higher price.I recently picked up the Type 2 Franklins, 1958 & 1959. It is amazing that people do not know of these coins. I guess that it is good as it keeps the price down, and you can try to find more of them. Enough about the Franklin. I also like the Kennedy half dollar. I like the early Kennedy halfs, Accented Hair, the later no initial version, which I just picked up the 1982 and found one in my Raw Kennedy half collection. I like error coins, which I get from Fred Wienberg as he is the leading expert in errors and contributor in the Red Book. I recently pickd up a 1957 Franklin half Clipped (large clip)AU50. I have also Blank Proof Silver dollar which I have only heared about and never seen. I picked it up from Fred as he had the largest collection of them in the world.Lucky for me that he needed to generate cashflow to pick up another oppertunity and he let some of these rare Proof Silver planchets that were graded from ICG. Anyway, I collect Indian Head, Lincolns, Buffalo, Jefferson, Roosevelt dimes, American Eagle Gold & Silver Dollars, Commemorative Gold & Silver a hope to learn from this website as well as to contribute when I can.

Hello,I'm from Riverside,California. I got started from my piggy bank.Found a few odd looking wheat backs. Asked my Dad.Started putting my odd pennies in a baby food jar at 12. I just Picked up wheat backs one here and one there. It wasn't until my Dad gave me back the few jars and some coins he had in 2010.[Thx Dad] Then one afternoon I realised what history and memory's I have in my collection. Now its my hobby as well as a great learning tool for my Son and Grandchildren. Looking up info got me here and noticed I can learn a lot of good info.

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum and also a newbie to coin collecting world. I have tons of coins that I am studying, so I will be asking for a lot of experienced help along my journey. After I learn a few things about this new found lust, I will begin selling some of my coins. My education is starting with the U.S. One cent and moving up from there- after I feel comfortable in U.S. coins I will start digging into my foreign money books and boxes. Glad to have found this website, I am from Central Arkansas, USA - Thanks for any advice in advance!
