I actually think the $1 commemorative isn't that bad for once. Why 2015 though? This year marks the 69th year of the Roosevelt dime, the 70th anniversary of FDR's death, or the 77th anniversary of the founding of the March of Dimes. Seems like they pulled this out of a bucket of shelved ideas because they couldn't think of anything better to do this year. On the fence about whether I'll buy though... do these things usually turn out to be good investments?

With a mintage of only 75,000 these will sell out easily, both of the dimes will be the new keys to the series. An excellent opportunity to make some quick cash flipping I assume.

I think they will sell fast.

I find it comical how in one topic we have a group of people complaining about the ATB Quarter design changing frequently and in another topic we have a group complaining about the Roosevelt dime design not changing frequently.

Very interesting! I'll be picking up one. Hope the release date holds - at least we know the Force will be strong with it.

Csotus, the two are very different. The ones who dislike the ATB its because quarters have changed with 4 new designs every year since 1999. The people on this thread dislike that in the last almost 70 years the dime hasn't changed once. If the dime were to start having multiple new designs released each year for years people would feel the same as they do with the quarter.

(down to currently about 300 new cases worldwide each year.)

@january1may - the gold coins are slated for 2016 not 2017.
Breaking out the gold coin denominations, there could be:
2016 Walking Liberty Gold Half-Dollars, 2016 Standing Liberty Gold Quarters, and 2016 Mercury Gold Dimes.
A goal would be to match each gold coin to the size and diameter of their companion 1916 silver coin and use round fractional gold weights, Mint officials said.

I think a comparable coin to the reverse proof is the 1997 Matte Nickel (the key to the jefferson series). That coin has a mintage of 25,000 and goes for about $150 - 160 ish in SP69. So I would expect the price of the reverse proof dime to eventually end up in a similar range. I would expect the 2015 w to go for more than that given its the only option if one wants a 2015 w mint mark dime in their set. So at a minimum I expect that to also go for $150 in PF69, but likely much more. Throw in another $30 for the silver dollar and I think your looking at a minimum of $330 in value once the markets settle on these things. Thats more than 5X issue price!

Another good example for comparison is the 1998 Matte Kennedy half, the key to that series. It has a mintage of 62,000 and averages around $180 in MS69

The difference between 1998 and the present issues is that EVERY special set is consumed in the first few days of availability and then dumped on the market right away....price appreciation (if there is any) after that is mostly minimal
Decent price on the set and the HH limits will prevent the "normal" collector from ordering more than that...but it will NOT stop the big boys from ordering thousands of sets

Here's a simple question but I do not know. So if I wanted to order this, would it be as simple as signing up through the mint and ordering there on an order date?
