Well that's interesting. Is the nickel supposed to be the suit? So you'd have 3 of the Ace of Nickels?

Ya 1950's educational flash cards are probably what they is. Never seen anything like this before though. We're they for children or imigrants?... or fine, andy warhol style pop art for the numismatic lol

Why would there be an index pip in the corners if these were just flash cards? However you guys are on to something. A closer look at the back side of the cards shows "ED-U-CARD, NEW YORK". A quick Google search reveals that this was probably some sort of educational game. http://www.roadtrip62.com/Post09261....VPskA-GyK7kSome good historical info on Ed-U-Card if you're interested in reading it, but it does not specifically mention this set of cards. I suspect it was an Old Maid / Crazy 8's / Go Fish kind of game. Can't seem to find any more about it at the moment.

Hi, I just found this discussion and wanted to provide a bit more info. These cards are from a game called "Piggy Bank" by the Edu-Cards Company. It was published from 1953 to at least 1967, and I believe the photos you show are from the earlier version (the backs changed later on). The game involved saving pennies, and banking 5c per turn, either as 5 pennies or a nickel. The winner was the one with the most money in the bank when the cards ran out. Thanks for finding and citing my website http://www.roadtrip62.com/ ! - Don

Thanks for the warm welcome. Always happy to provide info when I can. By the way, if anyone here has some interesting info on the coins of 1962 (anywhere in the world), I would love to try to work it in to my site. I will of course credit you. - Don
