http://mintnewsblog.com/2015/03/201...-candidates/I think there are a lot of worthy candidates in this collection. It's going to be a difficult choice. For the obverse, I think I'd have to go with 5 or 14. I like the portrait in 9 but not that "Mark Twain" painted on the fence. Twain looks slightly cross-eyed in 15. I think I'd be happy with any of the reverses. Looking forward to this one in 2016!

I like 14 for obverse, 12 for reverse.
Do we actually have opportunity to vote for the design or is it completely left to the government discretion?

I believe it's up to a selection committee. I don't think we have the chance to offer opinion, but could be wrong.

I like Obverse 9 with some changes--remove the graffiti on the fence, the stray squiggle above IGWT and add the date.
I think it'd work well with reverse 8.
I wouldn't care if they left off E Pluribus Unum as it takes up space that would be better used to spell out the denomination.

Lots of interesting choices. It would be a while before I could narrow it down, so I might just wait it out and see what they chose.

There a lot of good designs but based on the previous choices I bet they go with 8 as it the simplest and easiest to pull off production wise.
Numbers 5, 10, 11, 15 look like they could have been used on the proof Platinum Eagles as their rotating reverses seemed to take some chances and push the envelope with the designs. I don't see the mint going that route with a mainstream commemorative although I wish they would.

Quote: I bet they go with 8 as it the simplest and easiest to pull off production wise. Hope you're wrong, 8 is the least appealing portrait to me. I like Obverse 14, the mustache is perfect and that open area on the right will make the portrait pop on that coin. 9 or 13 for the Reverse.

For the obverse, I think O-8 and O-14 would be good obverse designs.
I'm struggling a bit more with the reverse choices. Twain is more than just the author of "Huck Finn" and so I'm leaning against all the designs with that theme. I think I'd go with R-14 but without the "Mark Twain" banner or R-3 because of the message it presents (even though I don't generally like text-intensive designs).

I like 05 for the obverse and I like a lot of the reverse choices; mainly 6a, 7 (although a tad busy and cluttered), 8, and 13

Quote: My vote would be Reverse 5 Obverse 12 Is that backwards? I do not see a Reverse 5. Obverse 5 and Reverse 12 do seem to go together.

I agree... Obverse 5 and reverse 12 do go really well together.
Anyone else notice that obverse 5 is the only one that says 2014?

@commems I just saw this comment of yours: Quote: Twain is more than just the author of "Huck Finn". Oh, so very true! But of course that's mostly what everyone knows him by. Unfortunate, but it's better than not knowing his works at all.
