Silveroid, thanks for your contributions and
advice, I like your new 1.5 ounce Polar Bear and Cub coin,
I will have to pick that up to add to the other 1.5 Bear
(showing spots)and 1.5 Arctic Fox. It looks like you
should add the Devils Brigade 3/4 Ounce (nice design, star
looks almost high relief), it is pretty nice coin and one
that has both Canadian Maple and US Star (one of the few
coins minted with both Canadian and American symbols) to
complete the 3/4 ounce offerings.
Orfew - if you live near a LCS or bullion
dealer, you can save the delivery charge by picking up in
person depending on your distance. It lowers your cost per
ounce, just go on-line or call ahead and they will tell you
what is available. Some dealers allow for storage as
well. Most bullion collectors store their coins/rounds in
tubes. The boxes also add to the cost but are nice for
display. Serious silver stackers get as close to the spot
price of silver as possible to lower their cost and
increase the chance that they will be able to sell at a
profit. Another recreational form of bullion collecting
and investing is junk silver (Pre 1967 worn decimal coinage
from Canada - 80% Silver and Pre 1965 from US .900 Silver
and .400 Silver '65-'70 Half Dollars). I usually collect
one example of the bullion produced by the mint each year
depending on design, so collect the Lunar Series of Privy
Marked coins, any Wildlife, and weird weights. I try to
get a Panda, Koala, Kookaberra and Saltwater Croc from
Perth Mint. An
ASE from the US and a Britannia from UK.
Libertad from Mexico, Armenian Noahs Ark, Somali Elephant,
Fern from New Zealand, there are many others. Some
mintages are very low from many countries. Buy smart and
pay as low a price as you can.
