Received my mint sets in the mail today, kinda surprised at the fast shipping for a government organization as I thought they had one speed I Couldn't wait and ripped open the box as soon as I came through the door to see the new holders. Now that I've seen it I have mixed feelings but overall I like it. All the coins are encapsulated and recessed so you can see the coin edges. They all fit snuggly so if anyone wants to break them out they should be very careful. The flip page or cover is pretty thin and doesn't like to fold (actually have to bend it up). I would of thought it to be thicker with a cardboard fold to allow for easy flipping so you can easily look at the coin info on the inside. From a quality perspective the Philadelphia coins look much better than Denver. I wander if this is just hit & miss or the norm?

Ooops forgot. If anyone uses the Eagle Brand or Dansco Mint set albums they will not display these too well. Does anyone know if any supplier is making a presentation album for the new format?
Had to edit this for a new problem. I store my mints sets in two cardboard boxes (the ones they sell at the U.S. Mint site). It turns out they are actually taller than the box so the lid cannot rest without damaging the packaging. Kinda bummed about that.

I ordered mine several months ago. Then a freind of mine just told my I couldn't have since they just came out recently. I told him I received them long ago. I went home and opened the box which still was sitting there. I order lots for Christmas presents so no need to open them yet. SURPRISE. I ordered the 2006 sets. Now I have to go and reorder the 2007's. I'm getting to old for all this.

I got a set today . I think the quality must be hit or miss since the Denver coins in mine are much nicer, by a wide margin. The Philly coins all look like the have a little "rub " on them, noticeable because of the breaks in the satin finish. The edges of the Presidential dollars are exceptionally nice, very smooth mirrored finish and very few nicks - unlike the business strikes. I wonder if the procedure is different for the edge lettering on these or if it is just slower production that does this ?

Carl, I'm so sorry for your mistake. Maybe some folks here will buy your sets.
InfiniteInterest, glad to here it's a hit/miss with quality. I noticed that some edge lettering is upside down, not a big deal but it leads me to believe a combination of slower production and slightly better processing.

It looks as if finding exceptional P mint sets is going to be the challenge. The Denvers in my set are stellar compared to the rubbed up, nicked Phillys.

I received my 2007 mint set yesterday. The new packaging is very nice. My Denver coins are very nice but the Phil coins leave alot to be desired.

There's one other aspect of the new packaging that I like -- the coins are all straight up and down. The ones of previous years in the cellophane are rotated every which way. Jan

I received my 3 mint sets today. I agree the quality of the Denver sets are much better than Philly. I also like them raised so I can see the edge lettering but think they could have done a little better. Also they don't shake rattle and roll in these cases which is a plus. only 1 coin out of all 3 sets is rotated. Overall I'm pretty happy with them

I got my set. One set (Philly) has the corner of the packaging broken. Should I try to get it replaced by the mint since I don't normally break the sets?

Fatcat, me personally, I would look into sending it back. especially if thats the only set you got. I bought 3 so if one was messed up, thats the one I would break up. but if I bought just one to keep as a set I wouldnt be too happy with a broken package.

Just got my second set today in the mail today and it's consistent with everyone else that the Philly coins were shabby with a little rub and the dime wasn't even seated right in the holder. The Denver coins were much better.
Guess I got lucky with the first set.

Can anyone tell if the Pres. Dollars have the "satin finish" of the rest of the coins. Mine appear to not be "satin finished" but regular business strikes.
any opinions?
thanks
