i got this in my change at Wal-mart yesterday
along with a 53 weatie just wondering if its
all that rare or fairly common
iwould also like to add that the back of the coin is normal
(not off center)

Is the reverse off center too? If so, you have a somewhat common occurrence, a slightly off center cent. If the reverse is normal, you have a misaligned die strike, which is less common.

If it was me I'd go back to Walmart and try to get in the same line in case there are lots more of who knows what in the cash register.
At a store near here I received a bunch of wheat cents in change and immeadiatly ask the cashier if she had more. Naturally she said she is not allowed to look for certain coins. You never know though.

There are varying degrees of the Mis Aligned Dies (MAD for short. But they are common. If you get a OBW roll you will noticed the same MAD look on all from the same die pair. The reverse die must remain stationary and the obverse must be the adjustable one. I've only noticed the MAD on the obverse of the coin.
