Wanted to start a new thread for this one with new pics and some questions. How would you grade it? If I list it for sale, any descriptors I should include? Is it worth mentioning the older style PCGS slab? Thanks!

MS62. That is not an old holder but the G$1 you posted is in an OGH (Old Green Holder) and is well worth mentioning in the auction title.

By mentioning that it is in a PCGS holder, you're assuring the buyer that it's not some kind of cheap fake.

I will certainly mention PCGS and the grade, and show the holder. I just wasn't sure if this was an older style holder and if so, if it was worth advertising that...if it would add value.

@BH1964

Isn't this a Proof?
It has a very strong strike and sharp rims.
Also, the PCGS slab says "Series:18PR".

If in fact it is a Proof, I would say it would grade around PR-64. The light discoloration will drive down the eye appeal.

Odd PCGS holder, a no-grade Proof. Looks harshly cleaned. A problem coin in my opinion.

Yes, it appears to be a proof. My bad. The code says 64 too.

Sorry for the confusion, I covered over the grade so we could get some unbiased opinions on it. I don't think it looks cleaned in person, but I'm not an expert at all. I worry that my close up pics misrepresent the coins...it's especially tough to take accurate pics through the slabs.

Hey no cheating! ;) I thought about covering that up.

I kind of impressed myself tonight! The most difficult coins for me to grade are the proofs.
Next in line are the coins grading MS-67 or higher.

PCGS Coin # 3881 is indeed a Proof. I would grade it around $260.00

The grade is NOT details and is in the cert # line. Next time Phaedrus you will want to blur out the cert number line as well. They can be looked up on PCGS' website besides the grade being listed there too.

I think there is too much confusion in the slab. I would resubmit it for new slab and grade. my opinion: pr-63 or 64 toned.

Sorry for the confusion I caused with the slab pic...next time I'll make it clearer that I'm covering up the grade. And I'll make sure to cover the serial number...I didn't expect that my fellow coincommunity members would cheat! ;)

Tried taking pics again...pretty similar...maybe a little improved:

The coin is very shiny...I tried taking some pics that would capture that but it's tough. Do you think these following pics are worth posting along with the others if I put the coin up for sale?

You could.

However, the last two photos give off a glare. Because of that, you can't see a lot of the detail (like the hair).

It's not cheating if the grade is included with the photo!

It's a pretty Liberty nickel, I think way better in hand than the photos show.
