I have no knowledge of VAMS but think I have spotted a die clash on the one I have. I was wondering for those who study Morgans and know them well if they have seen an 1887 with a die clash around the mouth area? And if so does this variety have a number assigned to it that I can look up. Sorry if I use the wrong terminology, any info would be appreciated. I did got to vamworld but there are so many I have no idea where to start. I only know what I've read in forums.
Thank you

Die clash marks around the lips come from the wreath on the reverse. It usually takes a letter transfer from the word LIBERTY, the mint mark or the M of the designer, even the D from DOLLAR or any other letter for the VAM to get a subletter such as A,B,C, etc. Mark Kimpton told me that he thinks 25% of the Morgans are clashed but that only 10% of those have the letter transfer. Hope this helps.

what seems to be a good place to look for letter transfers is right under the eagles tail feathers, the "E" can be very prominent on some specimens. There is p[laces like behind the cap where the hair meets the cap on the Obverse that is usually a good place to look also but the "E" seems to warrant allot of different VAM's for allot of different dates.
