It is a German 1942 D Reichspfennig...D is a mintmark that stands for Munich.

They were minted in an Aluminum-Bronze alloy.

In this condition it has no numismatic value but was still a neat find in a cent roll.

In average condition, it would have been worth a dime so the fact that it is discolored doesn't hurt it much.

An interesting find:-)

Have Fun,
Bill

I just thought it was an amazing find, like owning a piece of history. The roll was a mixed date roll. My bank hardly ever gives out new penny rolls, execpt at the beginning of the year.

The lighting makes the colour look weird. I thought it was the Cu/Al version (36-39), but after 1940 were minted exclusively in zinc (well, barring the odd proben)...

The coin is as others have said, KM#100 5 Reichspfennig (Jaeger 370) but it is in Zinc. The D mintmark is from the Munich Mint, and you have one of about 15,486,000 coins minted there in 1942. If it was to be in Cu/Al, it would be a very interesting find indeed, and be a previously uncatalogued Proben; I would just HAVE to get good photo's of it off you then! :)
