Bought my second Castile & Leon coin today, and it's much better condition than my first one. Castile and Leon were two kingdoms in what is now north-central Spain, and would eventually evolve into the core of the modern nation of Spain. This is a base-silver "penny" (also known as a dinero, blanca or cornado) of King Alfonso XI, who ruled from 1312 to 1355.
Most of the legend is illegible, there's a few corrosion patches and the poor thing's got a nasty hole torn through the thin planchet. As you can perhaps imagine, my other Castile & Leon coin isn't terriblyt photogenic!
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
