Does anyone think the value of the Presidential dollars will ever rise? If the edge lettering is taken off, will the ones with it rise?

If the edge lettering is taken off, then all of the 2007 coins will rise in price becasue that would be the only year with edge lettering. However, the only Presidential dollars that I suppose will rise in price/value would be the genuine error coins, high grade coins, and maybe proofs. The better the condition, the more its worth. However, it seems as if everyone is hoarding these coins, so pretty much all of them are in excellent condtion. So I'm kinda on the fence on this one. But i'll guarantee that the 2007 proof set will be similar to the 1999 proof set. (Huge price increase) I hope this anwsers your question. -Ben

As for me I think they are all worth just what they are $1.00 no more no less. Sorry but it is my opinion this series of coins was a big mistake , don't know what the mint was thinking or who's idea it was to start the series at least that the way it seems to me.

I think for the most part they will stay about 1.00-1.50. but I would say the only execption might be some of the Pres. that have never been pictures on our money before might gain a little value just do to the fact that it is might be the only coin there face is ever one. but I would not look to make alot of money off of them. but is not collector stop collecting them then they might become gain some value. but I would defenty pick up a few proof set and mint set I think the new way the mint packaged the mint set may help there value. but that it part of collecting some of the modern stuff you never know what might be worth in 10-15 years.

Well the reason I ask is because I have about 110 dollars in Presidential dollars. Now ive already decided that I'm keeping 50 dollars, 25 thomas jefferson unopened bank roll and 25 george washington bank roll. The other 60 dollars are george washington and john adams opened. So I'm thinking about turning in the 60 dollars to get some extra money for the coin show.

I think the only ones that will have any future value are going to be slabbed errors, mint and proof sets. That's about it. I think the 07 set will be worth the most because there are a Lot of people that always jump on the band wagon too late with things like that

I'm gathering Presidential dollars for the grandkids, and my wife and I are each starting Presidential dollars Dansco Albums, with proofs. However, regarding any profit other than errors, well, not in my lifetime.

I'm going to collect the proof sets as they're released over the years, but I'm not expecting any perceived value. This is more of just an interest of mine. Like someone said, a lot of the presidents have never been cameoed on currency, and I just like the idea.
If I had the money, I would be collecting first spouses too since those will have perceived value due, in part, to its gold content but at over $400/coin, bit too much for me.

I doubt they'll rise in value in the near future. Lots of people are hoarding them.

They probably are a good investment - not for collectors - for the US Mint. After all, they cost pennies to make, and even if they don't circulate all that much, the mint gets to carry them on its books at face value. The difference between cost to manufacture, distribute, and retire the coins and their face value is called "seigniorage". It's how the mint "makes" its money!

I heard the same thing the U folks are saying about the Kennedy when it went to clad a full set sell for over $1000.00 so the Pres coins may do the same but it will take a lot longer

I think once the series is done...a complete set of high MS will have value, but as for selling them single, I dont think you will see more than face value

I don't see these dollars having any real value, the errors will always be desirable, but the regular issues are far too common.
Getting people involved in coin collecting, is the real value of these coins.
