New to forum so be kind :)

I'm sure this has been posted before so I apologize in advance, but any ideas what this would be valued at? This is a 1995 dollar bill with a blank reverse side. Similar to this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1985-1-00-ERROR...Au_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/160175684474 target= _blank rel= nofollow 160175684474 /a QQihZ006QQcategoryZ3415QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is that ebay auction a good metric to judge value based off of? $125-ish?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

The value of a note like that is dependent on condition and rarity. Notice that the auction still has five days left- it will go higher than $125. I would think with a currency error like that, most prospective buyers would want it certified since notes can be bleached. I am not much of a note collector but I would imagine that this is a pretty rare error and I am just a bit jealous as all I have is a 5% off-center print shift

I looked for ended auctions on ebay and see no other one that has ended on there so you may want to check some place like Heritage to see if they have had any auctioned off like it there and see what they sold for to get a price range. I personally think it will sell for allot more than the 125.00 that it is at right now because most bidders will wait until the last day and even up to the last few seconds to bid on an item

All good points... thanks for the feedback. Will take pictures when I get the opportunity and post them.

Question - how would you suggest storing this? Right now I just have it in a zip-lock bag, and I'm sure there's a better way to protect this from the elements. I'm new at coin-collecting/note collecting so I suppose I'll pose the same question as it relates to coins. Right now I just have my coins stowed away in those cardboard pieces with center cut out and a laminate clear surface protecting either side (I'm sure there's a name for it).

By the way, just on a side note, I got the $1 bill as change from a fast food restaurant. The cashier tried to take it back, but I insisted and got my way. :) When I first got it, was in nearly mint condition, but unfortunately that was almost 10 years ago and I didn't stash it away right away so it's not in the same mint condition it was when I first got it, but it seems to be doing ok in the zip-lock bag for the time-being until I find a better way to protect it.
