Sorry to keep bothering you and asking about some coins. I just bid on a couple coins last night and was wondering if I should not bid on these anymore if I get outbid. Here are the coins I bid on. Thanks for any and all input and all information and tips welcome.
Kyle

No need to apologize for "pestering" the family. Members here are free to comment on your posts or move on. If you start taking up too much disk space, the Forum Dad and Mom with deal with it.

All three auctions are currently acceptable. I personally wouldn't bid any more for the roll of lincolns. The 09 VDB will probably go for between $15-20. And the mixed lot is interesting if you're just starting out, plus it's got over $15 worth of silver in it.

Do you know where to go for a quick reference for current values?

Not really sure about the first and third auctions, but for the price, you seem ok for now. As for the second, what I would do is copy their photos to your desktop and post in the coin grading section here. There are some pretty good Lincoln experts here and they should be able to give you some advice etc. From there you can compare to completed auctions on ebay and Teletrade to see what the market is at.

I don't recommend doing this for all coins in question per say, like 5 a day, but here and there until you feel comfortable grading them yourself from pics is good practice for everyone.

One thing to keep in mind is the amount that pictures can be "doctored" with current imaging software. Make sure you check everything out with sellers on ebay, especially those with not so good photos.

On lot #1, you don't know what the condition of the coins are so I wouldn't go any higher than your bid now.

Lot #2, The 1909 VDB is not a rare coin, lets grade it F12 though it would probably grade a higher. In that grade book value lists it at $10.50. So as long as you stay at that price you are OK.

On the last lot, as of this afternoon silver is a $15.32 an OZ. The ASE is worth that is silver alone. I wouldn't grade any of the 5 cents above AG, and the Kennedy half's at above face value, so if you stay at a bid of between $15 to $16, I would consider that a good deal.

Don't get bummed out when someone snipes at the last second and bids twice what the coins are worth.

I completely agree with SeatedNut on all counts. I wish I could add more because I love to blab, but my reply is "ditto"

Edit: I do have something to add!

Make sure you factor in shipping to the (total) cost. Especially on low sale price auctions.

I agree with most. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 1909 VDB sell for $16-22.

The silver and nickel lot wouldn't really tempt me over $20, but I expect it will go for more than that, and the roll wouldn't quicken my pulse in the slightest at any price since you can't see what you are buying and it's going to cost 10x face+ to get it to your house.

Let us know what happens, and keep posting when you have questions.

PS. If you get to 50 posts and you haven't won any lots or you aren't burnt out already, contact me and I'd be more than happy to put a lot together for you like the ones you are bidding on (only better because you'd know exactly what you are getting). If you decide you want me to do that in the future, I could post some pics and we can solicit our fellow members' opinion on grades and values. In that way, we can hopefully help you and others develop an eye for grades and pricing discussions. If we can keep you and as many others as possible from overpaying on ebay, we would be doing something small but great for ourselves and the hobby. Good luck.
