1948 Error Cent?

Someone sent me a photo of this odd-looking 1948 Lincoln Cent. The "8" digit seems to have a problem. Since my knowledge of error coins is somewhat limited, I thought maybe some of our experts here at Coin Community could explain what this is.

post mint damage. most likely from a counting/rolling machine.

Or it could be a bag mark from another coin. But what ever it is, it wasn't struck that way.

damage. the 8 took a hit long after leaving the mint

So far, it is unanimous: The problem with the 8 was caused after the coin left the Mint. Any other opinions?
