You can see the silver color coming back on the higher devices. It spent some time outdoors and now is altered in color.

Looks like environmental damage. If you have a scale you can see if it weighs like a normal nickel.

When searching boxes I've noticed a lot of nickels turn red. I was confused at first and decided to scratch the edge and saw the silver underneath. Idk why exactly but they do turn a cooper color

The only sure copper nickel is a nickel struck on a cent planchet.

No it was a gift from a relative. He knew I collected coins and gave it to me. He also had some coins from a well they found in Mexico:

They were old but not a large value for them. He gave me just a sampling of what they found.
