for the cent, the stuff that is above the date is actualy metal from the cent, would that be a struck thru error as well or some sort of other error?

Nice coins. Did you note the "Blakely" effect on them?

Blakesley Effect- all true incomplete planchets will have an area of weakness on the rim opposite the clip

cool thanks, I see that effect now on 3 of the coins slightly on the quarter reverse, dime reverse and nickel obverse, can't find it on the cent though but that article also says if it's well sruck it might not display the blakesley effect. Thanks or the additional info!

Bio, not all real clips have the Blakesley Effect. Some do, some do not.

What I really look for in true clip errors besides the Blakesley Effect, is metal flow on the letters very close to the clip. The metal wants to flow toward the clip.

Yeah, I guess I was being a bit simplistic in phrasing in that way but I let the link do the talking for me- Ken Potter can explain it much more eloquently than myself

Hmmm.... Just noticed somthing. The blakesley effect seems to only affect one side (OBV/REV) of the planchet? The Cent looks like the area below the date might be affected?
