I see what might have been an "s" ... but maybe because I want to see it. can anybody else see it too?
All are the same coin just different angles and or closeness. (I may need to try to get better pics)
Added new pics...I think they are close too the best I can get for now

I can't tell what mint mark is in the pictures. If you can get a better picture or two it might be easier to tell.

Well, if it's a mintmark it has to be an S. Definitely seems to be raised metal in the appropriate spot.

That's what I thought...but I think it needs and upgrade.
But at least it fills a space.

I can't make out if it's even a 1909.

Looks more like a 1912 or 1913 to me.

I have my doubts it's even an 09. In addition to being highly worn, the die state looks to be far to late. This coin looks more like something out of the 20's.

...and what's left of the mint mark looks to be a D.

IMHO you are seeing things that you hope to see ... the date/mm is way to worn for any definitive conclusion based on these excellent photos.

Give us a clear shot of the expected designers initials on the truncation of the obverse bust ... if present then this is not a 1909 dated coin.

I also thought the mint mark looked more like a D than an S
If there is a mint mark.

I have to agree with some of the others. I can't see what year it is and the mint mark looks like it could be a D.

Yeah, I can't clearly read the date either and the MM looks more like a D than an S, I would guess 191X-D if the coin was mine and put it in my stack of dateless.

Keep in mind the dies were new and fresh in 1909. Finding a LDS 1909 would be extremely unusual, in fact, I don't believe I've ever seen one in all my collecting years.
