The people that stole them probably grew up a bully while in school and had problems at home and got into drugs, ETC, ETC. Its funny how life works sometimes. At least they stole from "wealthy" people and not poor people that happen to have $50 thousand worth of gold coins. I hope they get caught sooner or later.

I disagree with this. First of all, someone who is truly poor would not have $50k of gold. That's a significant asset.

And since when is it okay to steal from others, regardless of how much money they may or may not have?

Silver searcher, you do recognize that the comment was tongue in cheek sarcasm right?

I also note the article says it was $50,000 in gold coins AND VALUABLES. He said it was 40 oz of gold. At current spot that would be $47,000 in gold (assuming they are just bullion) and $3,000 in "valuables". If any of those coins have collector value he could wind up with "valuables" that have a negative value.

I'd have to guess an inside job if someone is keeping that amount of gold on them... or he has loose lips.

No way that safe was high end if a sledge hammer and crowbar cracked it open. He needs to have a serious talk with the company that sold it to him, telling him it was secure. A decent safe should not be able to sledge hammered and pried open. $900.00 for a small safe sounds like they got taken twice.

Hope the scumbag thieves are caught quickly.
