Hi all, just found these lathe lines on a 2014 Lincoln. Nowhere near as spectacular as a '96-D that I have, but it is the only thing worth mentioning after going through 3 bank wrapped rolls tonight.

I don't this those are lathe lines. Looks like die scratches or die gouges to me.

Aren't flow lines always from center to rim? Could they be from over polishing in that area?

Definitely not flow lines. Doubt that they are die scratches, as they are the only marks on the coin. They are evenly spaced and concentric.

Well the event happened to the die. It looks like a gouge/scuffing/polishing that affected the fields. (which is the out side part of the die) That is the reason they flow behind those devices. If they were lathe lines, they would occur more over all the devices. I don't feel it is part of a clash as nothing is affected in that area during a clash.
