twinklestars1234 is the shill bidder ID for canadian-coin-collector. His name has been discussed his with relation to Landon collection. So now you know. Funny how he is still allowed to sell on ebay after so many people here have complained to ebay (or maybe they just said taht they complained). Anyways.

Shill bidding is when you bid on your own items to increase the value of it, and upping what someone else has to pay. Say I want the coin so I bid, then that shill comes in and bids it up, then I bid, and he may sit on it or do it again. There's also those that try and increase the value of a coin... I've noticed a few just browsing last night on ebay for a certain coin... an ms70 2011 first strike panda. I saw like one or two that were $140 sold... then the rest were around $60. That's the way I know of it.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought it was possible for a seller to bid on their own items. Or are you suggesting the culprit created a secondary 'dummy' account for shilling purposes?

No one forces to you to bid "too high"....If you are putting a bid on something, and it gets run up to your limit, what is the problem? No one is changing your bids to a higher amount, YOU are the only person that has put a limit on your bid, so why wouldn't you expect to pay this amount?

coinsarecool, perhaps a link to the other threads, might help put this in context for all...

I agree that the practice can be frustrating. Especially if a buyer really wants the item. Saying that, I go to many live local auctions and almost all of them shill bid at some point and in some form. Reluctantly I would have to side with Tripoli on this. Know your price and know when to stop. Rule number one on ebay, use snipe or bid small increments so shill bidders can't bump you up. One thing to also be conscious of is that many sellers (especially high volume ones) also have regular buyers and its not uncommon to see higher % numbers of bids to those sellers. I for example bid heavily with a couple of European auction houses (on ebay) and if someone was to look at my buying % with those sellers, (depending on the time and my bidding activity) it may show close to 100% which may be interpreted by some as a potential shill bidder.

Roger - good point and here are the links https://goccf.com/t/215225https://goccf.com/t/200682I did not open this topic to discuss the moral clarity of shill bidding. Was just providing a name to those sellers who are familiar with the topic and want to block this person. JeyRey2000 - understood the exact purpose of my post -

Ya, I think proving it would be a great idea. That's a big thing to say about someone.

Bobby read the two links provided and there should be enough evidence.

Don't have to prove anything to you. Again, you either choose to take the information I provided and use it for your benefit or ignore it. This information came free with no strings attached. Why such a fuss?

Quote: Bobby read the two links provided and there should be enough evidence. There is ZERO proof there. None. Quote: Don't have to prove anything to you. No you don't. But you certainly would to the law if the accused comes after you. If someone accused me of it they would certainly be signing for their mail in the near future.

What are you talking about? If you are wondering, we are talking about shill bidding, not missing mail.
Good day.

There is enough evidence there for me to know not to deal with the seller. That same buyer has won auction and then given and received feedback and then coin pops up relisted. Same name has bid on many items of seller and then retracted bids. doesn't take too much intelligence to know whats going on!
