Am considering send a few Landon coins to PCGS that I'msure will be upgraded but not sure if I leave in the ICCS holders or cut em out and submit and mention to PCGS that I would like Landon label on them will they do this?

I doubt they will do that without the bonifides. If you take them out of the ICCS holders they become a raw, common coin, not a Landon.

I don't believe they would do it raw without provenance. Not even sure that an ICCS holder on its own would be sufficient. I have a question out to my dealer rep at NGC to see where they stand on it.

Are there any precedents from PCGS in terms of labelling coins according to their collection?

Just an FYI, NGC will attribute coins from the Landon collection. You will require a photocopy of the page from the auction catalog or a print off the online auction.

I think if you sent it, while in the ICCS flip they would acknowledge the pedigree. PCGS and ICCS have different grading standards... so they still may very well grade the coin up if you think it's a good candidate..
The very BEST thing to do... call them speak to a rep and ask...

Do you think that most of the raw bulk lots are going to be marketed as 'Landon' coins, or just go out into the market?

I bought a pretty good lot of Newfie coins from that first night in the auction.. but there was no claim that they were from the Landon collection specifically. So without the proviance of the ICCS slip I don't think the raw ones will be labeled as such..

The raw Landon pieces are going out two ways . There are pieces from the sale in Landons own handwriting showing attribution and what he paid in the late 1890 to early 1914 period. Mostly tokens , medallions and odd ball stuff. We have sold off quite a bit of the eclectic lot #038 from the sale and including the original envelope. More than a few customers were very happy about that. Other stuff is just not attributable to Landon and is being sold RAW ie a lot of the bulk stuff. Brian Cornwell of ICCS said that IF you send in the coins in Moores unopened original lot packaging, they will certify the pieces as LANDON. I guess I will see how that works out on the lot of 1903 Large Cents I sent in recently.

I ended up with both of the large world lots, I am thinking for the stuff in the original envelopes mentioning the Landon collection, a bit difficult on some of the world stuff though since many of the envelopes were stuffed with coins

of course you got the world lots jdmern! (thumbs up!) Pac: Actually wish I had known that earlier... even though the coins I picked up aren't worth that much ... I think I would've held them in the orginal packing and sent it off when ICCS has one of their "sales" would've just been neat to get more stuff attributed to him.. on my end of things... But I'm REALLY happy with my newfie stuff and my one 1888 penny!

Landon coins are from the hoard/collection of coins that were accumulated by a fellow who's last name was Landon. this was a historical Canadian collection and went up for auction very recently.
