I have a Connecticut quarter with what looks to be a greased die error. On the reverse, in the words "The Charter Oak," the word "Oak" is faint when you look at it from a certain angle. It's almost like the "In God We Rust" quarter that some of the Kansas quarters are affected by. Does anyone know how common this error is?

I seem to recall seeing a lot of "mushy" Connecticut quarters... The Crystalline Entity (er, "Charter Oak") makes that a very complex die.

As kanga mentioned, pics would help.

Yep, pictures would help determine scarcity and value.

Sorry about the quality, but you can kinda see what I mean when I say that the word "Oak" is faint.

Here is an overlay for this coin:

But it is probably a grease issue. Hard to tell from your photo.

I remember seeing a Connecticut 99' quarter for sale almost a year ago with a Greaser error that cancelled out the year. I don't know if they got the price they asked but it was asking for some serious $$$$

I believe the ones that are really valuable are completely disapeard. the faint ones are keepers but not as much. also the location matters.

Each State Quarter seemed to have a "favored" spot for grease to accumulate. On the CT it tended to take out the E in STATE, on the NH it favored the mintmark (resulting in a lot of NH "P" quarters) On the CT it liked the letters ARTER OA.

When I said on the CT it tended to take out the E in STATE I meant to say DE quarter. When they first appeared it made a bruha because there were the first STAT quarters and there was a lot of speculation over the "value" of that error.
