does the rim on the reverse look the same or different?

same = off-center strike

different = misaligned dies

Since a small part of the obverse design is missing or at the edge, there may be a small premium. Hopefully, someone else will be along to give estimates on value or rarity

The weight the same as a regular nickel?
An image of the reverse would be real nice.
Also check out the outside edge of the coin to see if it looks normal.

the edge is slightly thinner at target area,coop, and the weight toggles between 4.9 and 5 grams.

Thanks for the extra image of the reverse. Looks like its a MAD (MisAligned Die) issue. I noticed the line between the Motto and LIBERTY on your coin and wondered what the reverse looked like. Is the outside edge normal?

Yes sir, other than being slightly thinner where the rim is not present. I appreciate your looking at it. Does this coin command a premium?

It would if the devices would have fallen over the edge in one area. But yours is just a MAD.

I find quite a few like this. It is my understanding the more details of the design that are missing equals higher premium. Since this one is right on the edge like most of the ones I find, this is usually throwback for me. You are free to collect it if you find it appealing though : ) I'd like to hear what others think of this as well, maybe I'll start saving them.

BlueSolo, welcome to the forum. I am sure there is one thread on Thomas's coat that is missing so I've decided to keep it. Seriously though, it is an error coin and not in too bad a condition for a circulated. There are people that would pay 3 0r 4 dollars. Just think what a roll of them would be worth.

It does look look like the front edge of Jefferson's bust may be clipped off.

Coop, Fuzzy317, Conder101, and I seem to be in agreement. You wouldn't have an extra overlay would you?

I agree the detail is nice on the coin, few scratches. But do people really pay $3-4 for a slight MAD? I think it is within mint standards giving it no extra value. Here is the estimated loss of detail (Bottom image) using an overlay of the Jefferson (RED) over your coin (BLUE)
