Okay, here is a topic to discuss what might be an option other than dead Presidents, Statesmen and Treasury Secretaries on our currency, just as we discussed Liberty Coinage for our coin denominations.
Okay, let's say we keep our $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 Federal Reserve notes, and scrap the $1 and $2 notes for Liberty coins and do not add a $200 and/or $500 note. Here is what I propose:
$100 note: "Landing on the Moon"
$50 note: " Raising of the American Flag at Ground Zero"
$20 note: "Louisiana Purchase"
$10 note: Iwo Jima
$5 note: "Iditarod Balto's Dyptheria Serum Run"
(I mentioned the Iwo Jima because another member mentioned it here in the U.S. Liberty Coinage topic, in the Current Circulating U.S. Coins board, and I put Balto's Serum Run in the spot for the $5 note because I was told that Alaska wasn't an official United State during the dyptheia outbreak and Balto's serum run, but since the Iditarod still goes on every year, I believe, to this day, it is still a part of American history, and a tribute to dogs for serving man kind. I kept the options open for the possibility of still having $1 and $2 notes.
If we ever issued a $200 note and reissued the $500 note, I'd say.
$500 note: "Landing on the Moon"
$200 note: "Raising of the American Flag at Ground Zero"
$100 note: "Louisiana Purchase"
$50 note: "Iwo Jima"
$20 note: "Celebration of Independence Day"
$10 note: "Christopher Columbus's Discovery of the New World"
$5 note: "Iditarod Balto's dyptheria serum run"
$2 note: "An Army soldier, and Navy Soldier and a Marine Saluting an American Flag"
$1 note: "Martin Luther King's Civil Rights Movement"
These are my examples. I am no expert on history, but these are a few examples, I hope. Sorry if they are bad ideas.
