I have searched and searched and searched everywhere so I decided to see if anyone out there has heard or seen a dollar coin that looks like this ?

Can you post a picture? From what you are saying, it sounds like somebody was playing around with plating coins.

As posted pictures might help.

Big thing is to look at the edge. Your looking for the copper nickel/copper
layers that would be on the edge of a quarter size planchets.

If if is a solid looking edge ... Good chance it is plated

OK , let me try this again. I was going through a roll of $1 coins, the majority were either the Presidential dollars or the Sacagawea dollars with a few Susan B. Anthony's in the roll. As I was going through them I thought one of them was a Susan B., but as it turns out it was a Chester A. Arthur Presidential dollar coin . Everything about the coin looks like any other golden dollar coin with the other except of the finish. It looks like a Susan B. or quarter like finish. I am wondering if this is an error or if it is plated . I would like to post a picture but I can't seem to figure it out

As GR58 asked what does the edge look like? Does it look like a clad coin like a quarter does or is it a solid color? What does it weigh?

Pretty sure the pics are just going to confirm it's plated. If it's the same size as the other coins it's obviously not on a quarter planchet. I highly highly doubt that you have an error coin.
