I have these Large Cents and I am totally new to this series; so, it would be very helpful if I can get a lot of feedback from you experts - I need to learn from you to properly grade these. These coins were scanned, so I hope they are good enough.

This is the first coins (1844):

Thank you all, for your input.

Btw, I may put them up for sale/auction in the future. Who are interest and which method sale or auction do you prefer?

Nice coins,
I always wanted to start a set of large cent,
so historical.
I think they all fall into the VF range.
Check out the date on the 1847,around the 4,
it looks like a die crack to me.
Good luck

Based on the ANA Grading Standards book, I'd call the 1844 and 1845 Fine-15. They look problem-free and pretty solid for that grade. The 1847 is probably F-12, but not as solid. It also has old varnish or some other crusty substance around the devices; this will hurt the value. The 1853 is at least VF-20 for wear but should be discounted in value due to the many contact marks on the portrait.
I recommend getting the ANA book. It is very helpful for estimating the grade for circulated coins.

blcoinut,

Well, it's not a die crack.....

Jaobler,

I do have the ANA and Photograde books. I do use them and grade my coins but I am just looking for opinion to confirm my grading practice (a way for me to learn, gain more knowledge and confidence in grading coins). I do agree with Jaobler grades.

Thanks guys.

I'm always interested in VG-VF large cents. But I think I have most of the dates that you're showing.

SA4, there still appears to be something on the north/east side of the 4 in 1947. With my screen mag cranked up, it almost appears to be doubling. is there anything at all there?

I have to check that out tonight. My loop was at 15X last night. I may not look at the right angle? I don't have a lot of experiences with Large Cent, so bare with me.... thanks.
