Nice coin, Amazon. I don't know what those little dark marks are; maybe just dirt? They don't look like copper spots. The overall color looks original.

I see a few small contact marks but nothing serious. I can't tell whether there is any wear present. Detail at the eagle's shoulder does seem weak and that's usually where you will see the first rub.

This looks like a very solid AU-58. It might go 62 or even 63 if the soft shoulder detail is due to strike rather than wear.

Thanks Jaobler. I tried to grade it myself and the more I learned, the more of a different answer I concluded to. Those aren't copper spots, it's just dirty. I didn't want to even try to try to clean it. It's going to get an acetone bath once I get some experience using it. Thanks. Anyone else?

That is a pretty coin! I have been buying a few of these raw recently. The 1908 is the first year of this coin and there is a lack of definition on the upper portion of the eagle's wings because the dies were not prepared properly. This may be uncirculated, but I'm not sure. It looks like is has nice luster to it and no real bad marks on it. The cheek is very nice as well. The headdress looks awesome with no wear at all, even the lower feather, which is where it wears first. My only concern is the upper breast that is either a weak strike, or worn (which means it's circulated).

I would send the coin to NSC for conservation and then have NGC grade it for you. NSC does a nice job restoring coins and makes them look pretty nice. I bet you might get a MS grade that way.

Guido, thanks for the comments. Actually she was sitting in acetone for a few days and it got almost all of the crud off. It missed a few areas in the "states" on the reverse. I'll post some pictures when I buy some more batteries for my camera this weekend.
Rest in Peace
