I asked for the 2007 Clad proof set, a Dansco album for the Presidential dollars and a Cherrypicker's guide Volume 1. I could also use some coin shop money!!

2007 Silver Mint Proof Set, 1900-whatever Krause book, 2x2s, plastic coin tubes, boxes of coin to search, plastic pages for 2x2s and bills to add to my book, coin albums (I'm currently upgrading from folders). I know for sure I'm getting the first 2 things...the others ones aren't anything spectacular but I'll probably end up getting them for myself later.

I asked for a type set coin - any open space will do. Last year I asked for something gold and my wife bought herself a gold necklace. I need to learn to be more specific.

I went one better.....went out and purchased what I wanted and said to my family that all they had to do was pay for them.
I like the 2008 Aussie mint sets for the International Year of Planet Earth.
No more socks for me!

well since my wife and I split up I don't have anyone to buy me anything special this year, but I will get what ever my Secret winter holiday person sends me so I am fine with that. It will mean that much more also coming from a fellow forum member

Sure hurts when I see how many out there want Dansco Albums. Especially some of the ones noted. The reason is I go to coin shows about 3 times a month. I've gotten to know many dealers that are repeat dealers at shows. Several of them tell me one of the most common sources of coins is to buy up albums from people. They get practically nothing for the albums, just the coins. They then take all the coins out of the albums and place in 2x2's or lately 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch flips. This means they are many albums just sitting at home. Some tell me they just throw them away. So I started to ask for them instead of throwing away. One dealer gave me a few. Then one dealer brought me two boxes full of them and all FREE. I took only the Whitmans since that is what I use. Over 40 of them. Then at the last show he brought a large bin of Albums and told me to take them all or he would through them out. About 50 Dansco Albums. Now here is a funny story. Just as I was about to take the entire bin out to my car the dealer said wait a second. My Daughter, about 10 years old, wants to start a Mercury dime collection so let her have one. She reached in and although several Mercury dime Albums, she grabbed one, opened it and WOW. The entire last page was full of MS Dimes including the 45 Micro S. We went throught all the rest but only that one had coins. He didn't want to let here have them but all the other dealers in the area were making little remarks including me so I think she ended up with them. Every coin looked fantastic. Next show I'll check to see if she was allowed to keep them. If not, I'll comment on going to other dealers from now on. Meanwhile, back to the Dansco Albums. Like I said I use only Whitman and with well over 100 Albums I am not about to start changing. I took them all to a flea market and gave all the ones I didn't want to an elderly seller there. I first let a few people I know that collect coins look through them and they also took a few. There was almost every type imaginable in that bin. I would suggest if you frequent coin shows stop and talk to all the dealers. If they do the same and just throw them out, they may give them to you free or for a very cheap price. Nothing to loose by asking.

Good advice Carl. Unfortunately, no coin shows in my part of the country.

I know that many people just don't have coin shows in their areas and just don't know why. This coin collecting mania lately should have people everywhere putting on coin shows. Sort of like Beanie Babies. For a while there I saw them everwhere. Even Walgreens was selling them. I sure don't know why some big coin collector doesn't try to start a chain of coin shows everywhere. In the meantime, sure feel for those that don't have access to them.
