Good morning everyone ! Awhile back in december I purchased a coin/bill lot for 40 bucks which included a 1919 nickel, 1861 newfoundland one cent and some UNC bills, one other thing was a lot of 50 cent pieces 1976-1985 as I looked out for varietis for these dates I came across the small beads variety on my 1982 50 cent piece :) and yes I counted 120 beads multiple times with the zoom option on my phone just to make sure Lol

the easiest way to determine a small beads 82 is by the hair. The angle of your picture has the hot spot right where I would look to tell if it is small beads.

Looks like large beads. The relief appears higher, detail is lacking in the hair.Large beads also has 120 beads where did you see otherwise?

Great examples and fine pics there Robmck1967...

I have a question for the experts.
In Rob's examples I can plainly see the difference in the large and small beads but I noticed the I in Regina points to a bead (LB) and the other does not (SB) could this also be used to distinguish the two?

Rollin Coins Much easier to see a straight on pic than side view pics..

Lol penny man ya I pictured to coin sideways so someone could count the beads or see if the "I" IN Regina points to a bead

Also my mistake I though the small beads had 120 and the large beads had 118. $: thanks everyone for the help.
