I don't have alot of experience in grading the Seated Liberty type coins, so I'm posting this dime here to get some opinions from some of you folks that are more knowledgable than I.
I do have my own opinion as to the grade, but I'd like to hear from others. And, I'd appreciate it if you will point out what it is about the coin that influenced your decision. Thanks.

Ralph

Ralph,

Nice dime. I would hazard a VF-30. The devices just aren't crisp enough for an XF and the gouges (above the head at 2 o'clock on the obverse, and in the 'E' of One on the Reverse) detract a little. Still you gotta love that "Seated Lady".

I find the focus to be a little soft, so it's more difficult for me to tell just how well-defined the details really are. Still, it looks as though "LIBERTY" is strong, and there is little wear on the breast and thighs. The Reverse shows strong details in the wreath. I would grade this in the XF range, from this photo, but would want a crisper picture before saying that it should go up to AU-50, or down to VF.

Just my thoughts...nice coin overall.

XF-40 details with maybe an old cleaning. Looks like all the natural patina and luster was dipped off, but maybe it is the lighting.

I agree with EF-40.

Obverse: Liberty is strong, the scroll edges are raised, and the clasp is bold. Some wear on high points of gown.

Reverse: Most details in wreath are strong, with wear on high points.

Okay folks, after a good long soak in acetone, the coin doesn't look much different than the scans I posted earlier; however, some of the stuff did float up off it, and there is a slight trace of luster around the legend, and between it and the rim (obverse). Didn't figure there was any reason to repost scans because the luster doesn't show up anyway, and, as I said, the coin doesn't look all that much different.
