Hello,
Just searched through a lot I picked up this week and pulled a 1942/1P (Damaged/bent) on the very first coin I pulled out of the bag (pictured below.)

My question is the magnified picture though, something looks off on the 4 to me, just curious if this is just a fluke 1942-d?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated....

Yeah, the Denver overdate is harder to see but ought to be clear in images of this quality. There should be distinct sign at the bottom of the 4 and 2.

Thank you to everyone,
I suspected as much on the other 42.

Still can't believe that this was the first coin I pulled out of a 1000 Mercury dimes that day...

The 1942/41-D variety is actually a DDO, not an overdate, so you should see faint doubling across the entire obverse. But the best die marker is on the reverse of the coin. ALL 1941/42-D's have a D/D RPM.
On the obverse, the doubling is most apparent on the designers initials and IGWT. Hope this helps.

I'm a bit confused. I didn't see a reverse for the D. Did I miss a photo? And you said it was a bent coin. How badly bent is it? Looks like a 42/41 to me so nice find.

More confused. Never heard of a 41/42.
Of course the Mint could have called back some 42's and stamped 41 over them.
