I was going a few Franklin half dollars and came across this one. Its a 1963-D Franklin half. I know I see something, but not sure what. Any Ideas as to what is going on with this one? Thanks in advance, Vinnie.

Hi,
You probably didnt get any responses because your picture needs to be resized and reloaded to your source page.

I have a high speed connection and it is taking forever to load. Most people probably just moved on rather than let the picture load up.

I see Mechanical Doubling on the portion I let load, very common. I didnt wait for the entire picture to load either. if you set up another picture, 'll take another look.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Bill, I did not know it was taking so long to load the pictures, sorry everyone who tried to view them. I had them sized as original 1280x?. I have resized them to 640x512. If you need a larger picture, let me know what size and I will post it. Thanks again, Vinnie.

I checked on the portion on the lower portion of the S where the "S" connects to the hanger on the bell. I wondered it if was a die break there. But comparing it to other coins I have, it is just part of the design. But I agree with Bill. Machine Doubling. On the 1/2 Dollar and Ike dollars it is harder to find one without Machine Doubling. I find it distracting and hurts the pattern more than helps. But may just be my eye's idea?

After seeing your post, I just looked at my 1963 Franklin half Proof & my 1976 BU Bicentennial Ike with my loupe. They both have that kind of doubling on many of the letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Is this normal even on the Proofs?

Please tell me I have a Doubled Die.

Unfortunately it happens on proofs as well. But I refer to it as Strike Doubling on proofs as they are struck more than once normally. It brings the details out more.

For some reason, I am not seeing the resized pics. If you want to email them to me, feel free
