I went to my favorite gas station last night, and the clerk started handing me some change to sort through. I found a 1894 nickle in circulation.

That's amazing. I thought I scored when I got a Mercury dime in my change about a year ago. 1894, wow.

It's in OK shape for it's age and being in circulation. I'm not great at grading coins, but I would say it is Good4. I'm not so much worried about the grade just the thought of finding that old of a coin in circulation made me excited. Oh, and it was a QuikTrip. The clerk had just opened the roll of nickels.

I got a 1928 Wheat penny from a Chinese food "drive through" restauraunt last summer. Nice red color to it....really good condition.......not worth much but viewed it as a score nonetheless ! ANYTHING pre"64" is good ...silver or not !

Yep, the only other older nickel in the roll was a 1964. I've come to realize that everytime I check nickels I'm bound to find a 1964. It must have been a busy year for making nickels.

1964 nickels. They made over 2.8 billion of them that year. Strange compared to amount they made on other years. I know I find tons of those 64 nickels and even made serval solid date rolls of them. I need like 40 dollars worth of 1964 nickels to build an brick out them. My goal is to get 100 bucks of those 1964 nickels to build an intire box of them to sell on ebay later.

I been busy building 28 penny books and solid date rolls of pennys to buy box of nickels to search these days. Maybe I will get finished doing pennys and go back to nickels again. Maybe I can buy 100 boxes of nickels after x-mas to search for all 1964 thru 1938 nickels to build an roll set.

chevrolet454ss,
By the way my dad has one of those trucks, and loves it. If you want I can start saving the 64s for you. I literally find 6-8 of them a night. Just an offer if you are interested.

I got a 1910S wheat in an "unsearched wheat lot" from ebay. It's every bit as scarce as an 1894 nickel in your change

I got over $200.00 in old Silver certificates bills from a bank when cashing a check. The denominations was 10's, 20's, 50, all in near crisp condition. Dates 1920s' 30s'

Perhaps some of the Mercury dimes that you find in circulation are ones that I've spent. I often spend a Mercury dime or two to spice things up. Sometimes the clerk doesn't even glance at it.
