I found these in my dad's collection, there are two of the steer heads and they are quite impressive. First I've seen of them. Let me know what you think.

Very nice! You've got a pair of silver dollars from Canada's long-running series of commemorative silver dollars. Canada's circulating silver dollar commemoratives date back to 1935; the circulating series ended in 1967. In 1971, the RCM began striking non-circulating silver dollars specifically for collectors. Your two coins are part of the latter series.

They appear to each be the proof version of the coin. 1981 and 1982 were the first years the RCM issued proof versions of its commemorative silver dollars. Each was also available in an uncirculated version.

Each of the coins is 0.500 silver and 0.500 copper.

They are fairly common coins and so are relatively inexpensive in today's market - they can each be found for less than $25.

Excellent, thank-you for the information Commems, all I have are the cases with no documents or certs. They are great looking coins. I don't have alot of these non-circulating dollar coins, but its nice to have a few.

Hello Denny the coins originally came in a small clamshell
box and slipcover with a Certificate that was not
serialized.

The steers skull is one of my favorites.

Here are some others in the series.

Check out this string Denny, I have been collecting these
silver dollars for about two years.

In 1992 they changed to .925 Silver and in 2003 they went to 9999.
Commems also has given us all an education on various dollars. Example here.

Yes thanks for that link SD , I think I had seen it before. I should have been clearer, I do have the clam shell cases and slip covers but no certificates. I see you have a fine collection of these yourself.

I'm finding some great little treasures in my dads rather large collection, yesterday I came across rolls of silver quarters and dimes, they look circulated. There are boxes of 2x2 coins, and there is still more for me to go pick up.
