Despite the really dark obverse toning and the serious dings on Liberty's face, I still judged this to be a whole lot better than the other well circulated castoffs it was priced on par with. There's very minimal actual wear - could it make AU (albeit with a "details" annotation)? Colligo ergo sum

Wow Liberty looks like she lost a knife fight. Maybe AU details but my gut says high EF.

Nice from a cull bin, what did ya pay for it? Spot price?

Quote: Nice from a cull bin, what did ya pay for it? Spot price? Well, it's really hard to find any dealer selling even cull Morgans at spot. Let's just say Andrew Jackson didn't need any company.

This coin has 99 problems, but wear ain't one. The talons aren't even worn.

Which brings up the question of just how did it get to be in this condition? The reverse is so nice, I'm considering methods for dipping just the obverse, but of course it'd still have all those hideous gouges.

Realistically, it's probably high AU. I wonder maybe did it somehow get ground under the tire of a car? Like one pass with the reverse facing up - all damage to the obverse because the rubber insulated the reverse?

Mounted in a belt buckle, maybe, where the obverse both tarnished and took hits?
