I finished building my 1959 thru 2007 bu penny set and later I need to buy 50 books to install in them for ebay. I was thinking about adding proofs to my 50 books . In ordor to do that I will need to take apart 50 proof sets from each year from 1959 thru 2007 to build the 50 books.

I not that rich and I cant afford to pay 32500 for 50 proof sets from each year from 59 thru 2007. My goal to try buy 50 of each year one at time say 1991 cost 11 bucks each at 50 count each. Thats 550 for those 1991 cent roll. I was going to sell nickel roll, dime, half , quarter roll etc on ebay and keep the 1991 cent roll to offset cost on building the intire 1959 thru 2007 proof roll set for my bu roll set .

I was going sell the extra on say 1991 and keep using the money over and over again intill I get the 1959 thru 2007 set complete. Its going take me serval monlths to build an intire cent roll set I need.

My main problem is I called serval coin dealers on buying 50 each on 1991 proof sets. One told me he onley has 10 sets on each year and he onlys has maybe 10 sets of each year in stock at any given time. He dont have 50 of each like I wanted.

So my quastion is are there mint set or proofset wholesalers where I can buy 50 proof sets of each year in next serval monlths. One year at time intill I finished building my roll set. Its like I need time to sell extra rolls on ebay to keep buying years intill I finished.

I never did this before and been trying figure out how it works and still undecided if want to add proofs to my roll set.

I forgot to ask has anybody done something like before and how good does proof rolls of nickels, dimes, halfs, Quarters do on ebay these days. Its beter to ask about before I go over to point of no return. I hate to pay an lot money and get stuck with coins I cant sell or do anything with. That would an waste of time and money.

Try Silvertowne, AZ Coin and Jewel, and perhaps Covina Coin.

They'll sell you only good sets but they'll be checked for rare varieties and superb gems. They probably destroy cull sets so they'll be nice sets if they have them in stock.

You can find the rolls on the market once in a while.

Mint sets would probably be even more difficult.

Keep in mind that sets can be accumulated in these quantities with a few phone calls. You'll probably have to pay at least ask and probably postage.

Cladking,

I did an search and found every website but az coin and jewel. I guess I will call them monday. Do you have an link to az company.

I hope can find big dealer thats has thousands of sets in stock. I know mint sets and proof sets are hard to find sometimes .

On coin rolls they are very hard find to before 1998 and expensive if you find them. The 1999 thru 2007 rolls are easy to find on ebay . Main reason is Dealers took apart thousands of 1999 thru 2007 proof sets to build those 50 State Quarter books aslong with the sac dollar books. I can find those rolls no problem. They are decent on prices on those rolls. The reason I think they made there money on sac dollars, quarters from sets

Greysheat is strange on those 1980 or 1990 something rolls. The cents are priced higher than the nickels , dimes, quarters on proof rolls . It got me why the cents cost more than those. I dont know on that one? It got me for sure.

The tough one thats an big deal is the 1970 small date penny mint set . Its going be tough to add that one to book. I never seen an complete 1970 small date cent roll anywhere. I dont have clue on how I can add that to my 50 books I want to build. I may have to leave it out. The other problem is finding those expensive 1981 and 1979 type 2 proofs to books. The 1981 roll is over 1800 on the greysheat.

I guess I will try to work on one thing at an time. I will worry about 34 thru 58 bu coin rolls later aslong with 1909 thru 1933 section of book.

Thanks Chevrolet454ss

You can also try ebay. They usually have a few rolls for sale on there all the time. There are a few rolls from the 60's right now on there.

Sorry don't have Arizona Coin and Jewel info handy. If a search won't bring it up, they always have an ad in the classified buy section of Coin World. They have a very good reputation and are a major wholsaler.

Most of the mint and proof sets are worth more dead than alive. When large quantities are accumulated they will usually be destroyed to capture this difference. A lot of buyers of these refuse to cut up sets for themselves so these are easy to sell retail. It's can be quite profitable to buy sets at retail and sell the singles at retail. It's very labor intensive but it's been going on a very long time. One wonders how long it will be before it's difficult to get any sort of accumulation of most of this material. Some might not consider it important but these coins are the raw material of most modern collecting and it's a consumer market to a large extent. Many of the coins will not be available at all after they are sold as singles because they will have been lost due to poor storage or lack of proper care. Many of those which survive and survive pristine will be locked up in collections for decades.

The penny proofs have brought a lot more money ever since 1975. Then they said it was because the unc S mints werwen't getting made anymore so everyone would have to have a proof to fill the S slot. It seems more likely that it's just a greater emand for pennies and a little bit of self fullfilling prophesy.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

You can try Allensinc.com they are a huge coin store. When in proof sets put in 50 and add to cart and it will tell you if there are more or less in stock. For the earlier flat pack proof sets there were only about 20 in stock but for 1968 and on it seemed like there were way more than 50 in stock so I think it is a good place for you to checkout.

Thanks for info. I hope I can find them since I been checking into penny books that are bu from 1934 thru 2007 with 1970 small date cent. Aslong with with proofs from 1965 thru 2007 with 1979 and 1981 type Two Cents.

One dealer I know sells those sets for 529 each. I seen them retail for 600. For 50 books that would cost over 26450 to 32500 after all 50 books are sold in 2007 if you sell them all.

I am still working on trying find out it what it will cost to build 50 books like that and how much profit can be made doing it. If its worth it I will build it for 2009 penny replace or change over the mint is talking about.

Cladking, Your correct about selling proof coins like your talking about . I been doing research on making rolls out proof sets and been looking over greysheat . Some years you will lose money if take part sets and build rolls and sold them. The 1973 thru 1978 sets are worst on selling rolls. 2001 and 1999 , 1979 type two sets are money losers to make rolls. 1991 year is good year to make money but some you will lose big time. I think it cheaper to buy rolls on those years becides proof sets.

I thinking it may beter to buy an complete run clad proof sets from 1965 thru 2007 sets one at time becides making rolls. I buy it 700 to 900 per run. I keep cents out run. I sell dollars, quarters, dimes, halfs, nickels in sets for other peaple wanting to install them in there books becides making rolls.
Example Ike dollar set 73 thru 78 sell for 40 bucks, 2000 thru 2007 sacs, 125, quarter run 65 thru 2007 for 399 or whatever intill all sets are gone. I would need to do an totol of 50 times to build the cent roll set intill done.

Cladking your correct about those junk proof sets not being stored good. I looked at box full of 1961 thru 1964 proof sets. They all toned , spoted coins, carbon spots , plastic let coins go sideways on top of coins. They were trashed but sold over 500 for 45 sets on ebay. They were junk coins in those sets.

I still have lot to learn since I never did anything like this before since I am hobby guy and not an coin dealer. I been working on my roll set for about 6 monlths so far and looks like its need more time to build it for sure.
