Interesting, is it the same size and thickness as a normal nickel? Looks like a Dryer Coin to me.

Look familiar?:

You know I was going to say Dryer Coin as well but what's up with that weird edge was the sides beaten in so much and then beat down that it looks like finning was wrapped over the edge and flattened to the coin? Do Dryer Coins do that or have that effect on them?

AaronSzcz: "not so much thin" Dryer Coins are thicker (and smaller) than normal since the sides have been pushed towards the center it might not be too noticeable though, since the sides don't seem to be raised as much I doubt there will be much of a difference. To be honest, I would keep this coin anyways since I think it looks cool and is a nice example of a Dryer Coin. I want to have a collection of some good examples of PMD for reference.

I thought rim looked strange too

In commercial clothes dryers the drum is very tall. When coins are in the pockets, they can bang around or even get stuck in the dryers. When they work on the machines, some weird coins are found.

That penny in Coop's image exhibits a similar pealing rim that is seen on this nickel
Rest in Peace

This is a test. If this works, I have become a technological giant.
