Found this while roll searching.. Looks to me like a struck through wire (multiple instances) and grease filled or lamination... Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.. Did my best on pics and working on a full shot of the coin but wanted to get it up on here for everyone.

Looks kind of like a lamination + struck through/PMD. Hope to see those full coin images : )

I think grease filled would have a less jagged texture, and appear smoother with a gradient look rather than that pealed look.

I would love to see full coin images, but it looks as though the coin was either a parking lot coin, or it had catastrophic die damage, which is a major error.

I definitely agree with that. Those are some scary excerpts by themselves.

Thanks for the responses thus far... I know its hard to tell by the pics posted but definetly not a parking lot coin as its in ef45-low AU condition otherwise and the struck through wire is clearly defined under my stereoscope..i do lean more towards grease filled rather than a lamination as I don't see the characteristics of a lamination but I am by no means an expert anyway I will get those full coin shots up here in a min after I put the girl to bed... Stay tuned

Yowza! We need an expert. I have no experience with this one. Although I do see what I think is some of it PMD, extending out over the rim.

I'm interested in the little bit of reeded edge before the edge under "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 'Y' in LIBERTY. Not sure if this is usual on halves

This is known as catastrophic die damage for sure. Look it up on Error-ref. The die was damaged significantly, and thus this error was formed. You can see where some wire was struck-through and if I'm not mistaken, there is also a Cud there. Awesome error!

That's awesome news.. This is my first ever actual coin error I have found or own for that matter.. I have a few off center strikes but nothing of this level.. I will have to go read more into it.. Thank you for the link CoinCollector as well as the information

Ok so now comes the question... Is it worth getting slabbed and if so whats a round about estimate of what this coin might go for in auction? I will go check ebay as well but I have no experience with a coin like this.. Thanks in advance

This looks like a heavy grease/debris strike. But know for sure, let's call in the expert?
